Stona began with a simple purpose — to redefine the art of grinding.

Munich, 2018

OUR STORY

In 2018, inspired by the beautiful dispensaries we visited during a trip to the US, we returned feeling that something was missing.

Tired of grinders that all looked — and worked — the same, we decided to build something better: functional, innovative, and beautifully designed.

In our rented apartment in Munich, the first sketches and designs began to take shape - fueled by too much coffee, a few tools from the local Baumarkt, and a shared determination to make something truly different.

Austria, 2018

THE FIRST STONA GRINDER WAS BORN

What began on paper moved to the mountains. In our home nestled in the Austrian Alps, the first prototypes took shape in our garage. With patience, dedication, and the help of vintage machinery inherited from our grandfather (dating back to the 1960s), the first Stona grinder was born.

June 2019

CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN LAUNCH

In June 2019, we launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, and thanks to the overwhelming support from around the globe, Stona officially came to life.

We are forever grateful to all who believed in and supported our vision.

Berlin, 2023

HOME, SWEET HOME

In 2023, we relocated Stona and its production to the vibrant city of Berlin, where we feel Stona has truly found its home.

Here, surrounded by makers, thinkers, and dreamers, Stona continues to grow while staying true to its roots.

Who are we?

We’re Andrea and Flo — designers, makers, and a couple who share a love for great design, craftsmanship, and nature.

When we're not crafting beautiful grinders, you can find us enjoying a good coffee at the terraces of Berlin, exploring new trails on our mountain bikes, and in winter, enjoying some time snowboarding in Austria.

Our Philosophy

Nature and Sustainability

At Stona, our love for nature and dedication to sustainability are at the heart of everything we do. 

From the materials we choose to the way we craft and ship, sustainability isn’t a trend — it’s our way of working. Every decision, every process, is made with respect for the environment and the people behind our creations.

Sustainably Sourced Materials

All our wood comes from certified European forests — responsibly managed and locally harvested.

Each piece supports sustainable forestry and keeps transportation impact low.

Eco-Friendly Packaging

All our shipping materials are made from recycled cardboard, reducing waste and helping us deliver your Stona products with care for the environment.

Aluminum Recycling

Nothing goes to waste in our workshop. Every aluminum offcut from production is collected and recycled, feeding back into the circular process that minimizes waste.

Repurposing

Wood Shavings For Animal Well-Being

The natural wood shavings left over from our production process are free from chemicals or treatments, making them ideal for use in chicken coops and other animal shelters.

We donate them to local farms and families across Berlin and Brandenburg, where they’re used as clean, natural bedding for animals. They absorb moisture, reduce odor, and keep coops warm — a simple way to give back to nature what it gave us.
